Mets catching prospect recently broke his left foot during a Triple-A game. Sandy Alderson said that d'Arnaud will be in a walking boot for some time, but will not undergo surgery. It is estimated that d'Arnaud will be out for the next 4-8 weeks. He was hitting .250 with 5 doubles and 1 home run in 36 Triple-A at bats this season.
When this story initially broke out, it seemed as though d'Arnaud would be out for at least a few months. So, 4-8 weeks is probably the best case scenario here. John Buck has done a fantastic job filling in as the temporary starting catcher, and I still expect to see d'Arnaud make his major league debut sometime in July or August.
I am not terribly concerned with d'Arnaud's brief injury history, because catchers often get roughed up and involved in tough situations. Hopefully he takes his time and is 100% when he returns, because the Mets will need him long-term.
